| PORT SUSAN CAMPING CLUB ~~2011-2012 BOARD OF DIRECTORS~~

|
Thomas Keen: President |
My name is Tom Keen. I retired from Verizon in 2003, with 33 years of service. Leadsman on my shift for 30 years and was a IBEW shop steward for 25 years. I first came to Port Susan in 2005 and have lived here full time since 2006. I am a member of the PSCC Billiards Club. I enjoy being liaison to the Family Center, Club 50, Architectural Committee, Greenbelt Committee, Fitness Center and working with all the fantastic volunteers. As Treasurer, my work with the Park Bookkeeper and auditor has shown me there are more opportunities to streamline and improve procedures to benefit the members and cut costs. I am always open to questions and comments from members. I consider my attendance at campground social events as part of my “open door” policy. I am the only board member who currently lives in the park full time. My goals: To keep Port Susan livable, fun, and economical for the members. Thank you for your input and concerns over the past two years, and please consider me for another term. Sincerely, Tom Keen |
Lyle Danielson: Vice President |
I have lived in the Marysville area for over 35+ years and retired from my teaching career recently. I have owned two memberships at Port Susan Caming Club for ten years. I have limited experience with politics outside the education field; however, I enjoy people and feel my “less is more” political view fits rater well with the lifestyle of our Port Susan members.
I am well versed in construction, mechanics, equipment maintenance and operations. In general, I am a “do-it-yourself” type of person.
During the last five years, I have served on the Board of Directors and have tried to meet and hear the views of as many members as I could. I would like to think my vote reflected those views as well as the value of life and membership. The Board of Directrors is facing an especially complex time ahead and I would like to offer my experience and willingness to represent the Park’s members.
I would hope my background and abilities would continue to be a positive addition to Port Susan.

Paul Brand: Secretary |
My wife and I have been members of Port Susan Camping Club for approximately 15 years. During that time we have enjoyed spending time with our family camping and have enjoyed making new friends. I have approximately 30 years of business management experience including budget preparation and management. I also have training and many years of experience in labor relations and supervision. I am currently Committee Member on the Port Susan Camping Club Board of Directors. I was selected in July 2006 to fill a temporary vacancy. There are many challenges currently facing the Board of Directors. One of my major concerns is the continuing increase in dues. This has had a major impact on all of us-full time campers, snow birds and weekenders. The infrastructure needs improvement as many of our buildings are in need of repair. We need to improve communications and mutural respect between board members and also in our relations with members and staff. I have the ability to work well as a team member but I am not afraid of challenges and will speak up when I feel the action planned is not in the best interest of Port Susan membership and staff. I have served on a variety of committees in the past two of which are the Rules and Off-Road Committee's. My Goals:
- Improve infrastructure repair buildings - Improve communications and mutual respect between Board Members, Members and Staff.

Bryan Crane Treasurer |
My name is Bryan Crane. My wife, Sherry, and I have been full timers in the park for 7 years. We both enjoy all that the park has to offer including the Billiards Club, Shuffleboard Club, and as volunteers at the Family Center. We made many friends and came to realize that the Park’s most valuable asset is its members and friends. My background is 25 years in the commercial construction business, 12 years as a superintendent. I learned budget control, scheduling, and interpersonal skills. I believe my experience can benefit PSCC with our building/repair issues and subcontractor control. My aim is to solve our problems smarter and cheaper. I believe our park needs to do a better job on drawing from its assets (The Members). We need to find better solutions! Nothing cost more than a bad plan and our members deserve the best. | Calvin Phillips Committee Member

My wife and I bought our first campsite around 1994 and later purchased two additional sites, all of which have been used by my family. I suppose that we have used our sites in about every way possible, from tent camping, to motor home, to park-model and as both part-time and full-time residents. I have served as a volunteer on committees and believe that I have an understanding of the needs and wants of the members, regardless of how they choose to use of it. I grew up in Missouri and served more than three years in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Following that service, I completed a degree in physics and continued graduate work at San Diego State and the University of Washington.
We moved to Seattle in 1962 where I was employed as a research engineer with Boeing. As the years went by, my responsibilities increased. At my retirement, I was responsible for the activities of 300 scientists/engineers and technical people, and managed a budget exceeding $25,000,000 annually.
My Goals: - I would like to see a tranquil environment. I will work to try to minimize any friction within our park. - I will work to see that facilities and activities are properly supported and enjoyed by every member. - I would like to see our investment protected and increase in value. |
Darrol Bemis: Committee Member |
My name is Darrol Bemis and I am presently residing in Everett, Washington. I am 68 years old and I have retired from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office after nearly 27 years of service. I purchased my first Membership at Port Susan Camping Club in about 1978. I presently have three sites. I am a past Port Susan Board Member and was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Board in 2007. I am encouraged by the improvement's within Port Susan Camping Club due to the new Manager and the leadership of the present Board. The reason I ran for the Port Susan Camping Club Board of Directors is that I feel that our Camping Club is moving in a positive direction and I want to be a part of the team that makes Port Susan Camping Club a member friendly organization where families can come to have fun and enjoy the outdoors.

Perry Steinbach: Committee Member |
My name is Perry Steinbach. I’d like to be considered as a candidate for the Board of Directors. My wife, Gail, and I have been in the park about five years now. We’re full-time residents, living in Paradise! We’re known as the happy campers and proudly tell everyone we are. We love this park! Many of you know us because Gail and I have volunteered for a lot of things since we became members, including my being part of the ERT (Emergency Response Team). I currently work at Boeing as a power-tool set-up person. Before that, I managed the CARQUEST Auto Parts Store in Marysville for years and American & Import Auto Supply. We have many dear friends who are happy campers here too, but they’re getting older. Time does that! We need to watch out for them and for each other. If elected, I’d like to put together a plan, like a neighborhood watch, to do this. Members like us looking after each other in our own areas. Volunteers, of course, but mapped out and organized. We have the greatest people here in our park! We need to take care of one another. Let’s just shut off the TV one night a month and go meet our neighbors. In the time we’ve lived here we’ve seen a lot of changes, some good, some not so good...People come and go but one thing is constant. Most of the people who live here love this Park as much as we do. If you elect me to the Board, I want to be your voice, the voice of the people, and the voice of the reason! Give me your ideas. I’ll pay them forward! |
